- The First Great Schism was the origin of the first split between the Light and Dark Jedi. It occurred around 24,500 BBY.The Legions of Lettow was first established by dissident Jedi who believed that true power was achieved not through pensive meditation, as taught by their Jedi Masters, but through emotion. The tension between the Jedi and these dissident fallen Jedi, led by General Xendor and his lover Arden Lyn, grew until conflict erupted. They ended when Xendor was slain and Awdrysta Pina stopped Arden Lyn's heart.
- The Hundred-Year Darkness , also known as Second Great Schism, was a conflict taking place in 7,003 BBY. The Dark Jedi created monstrous armies to battle the Jedi Order and the Republic. After decades of fighting, the Dark Jedi lost the war in the final Battle of Corbos.
- The Great Hyperspace War was a war fought between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire in 5,000 BBY.The conflict encompassed the entire Galactic Republic, though the main forces focused their attention on three Republic worlds, and later took the war to the remote star system Primus Goluud, and the Sith mausoleum world of Korriban. After it overcame the initial shock of the Sith invasion, the Republic's armadas regrouped and annihilated the Sith Empire, forcing the Dark Lord Naga Sadow to exile himself to Yavin 4.
- The Great Sith War, also known as the Sith War, the First Sith War, and the Exar Kun War, was a galaxy-wide conflict which took place between the years 4,000 BBY and 3,996 BBY. One of the largest engagements of the Old Sith Wars, the Great Sith War saw the rise of the Sith, once again in opposition to the Jedi Order. The roots of the conflict are traced back to the fall of Freedon Nadd from the Jedi way and his ascension to Dark Lord of the Sith. Eventually his dark influence was discovered on the planet Onderon and the ensuing battle saw the Jedi temporarily break Nadd's hold on the remote planet. This fight against the resurgent power of the Sith was a warning to the Jedi that something ominous was brewing.
- The influence of the Sith, however, again resurfaced during the Freedon Nadd Uprising, which managed to establish the means for the Krath to grow in power and influence. Using Sith knowledge that they had gained from Nadd and his followers on Onderon, the Krath instituted a bloody coup in the Empress Teta system and began a series of campaigns aimed at Republic space. After several defeats at the hands of the Krath, Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma advised the Jedi Order that he would infiltrate the Krath and destroy them from within. During his undercover mission, Ulic fell to the dark side and joined forces with another fallen Jedi-turned-Sith by the name of Exar Kun. Eventually, Kun was anointed the new Dark Lord of the Sith with Qel-Droma his apprentice, and together they ushered the galaxy into a new Sith age.
- With their allies, Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma launched a series of deadly campaigns against the Republic, eventually making their way to the heart of the galaxy—Coruscant. Following this battle Kun and Qel-Droma launched an assault on Ossus, in an attempt to raid the planet of its Jedi artifacts. However, the battle of Ossus saw the defeat of the Sith forces, the capture of Ulic Qel-Droma, and the retreat of Kun to his base on Yavin 4. Broken and humbled, Qel-Droma agreed to lead the combined forces of the Republic and the Jedi to Yavin 4, in an effort to defeat Exar Kun. Under the combined efforts of the Jedi, Kun was defeated and the Great Sith War brought to an end.
- The Mandalorian Wars erupted after two decades of relative peace following the Great Sith War. The conflict was set in motion by the ambitious Mandalore the Ultimate, who reconsolidated the Mandalorian clans under the Neo-Crusader banner.Due to contradictory historical accounts from the period, the exact date of the war's beginning would remain a point of contention among historians. The wars could be said to have begun in the year 3,976 BBY, as it marked the start of Mandalorian aggression along the Outer Rim.The first skirmishes between the Mandalorian and Republic fleets occurred as early as 3,965 BBY, but many published histories tend to emphasize the time period after the Mandalorians invaded the Galactic Republic proper, circa 3,963 BBY. After the invasion, the Republic Military and a faction of the Jedi Order entered the war. The wars concluded in 3,960 BBY with the Republic victory at Malachor V.
- The Jedi Civil War, also known as the Second Sith War, the Old Republic Insurrection, and by the Mandalorians as the War of the Star Forge, was a devastating conflict that began when the Jedi Knight Revan, who had led the forces of the Galactic Republic to victory in the Mandalorian Wars, founded a new Sith Empire and declared himself the Dark Lord of the Sith. The war began when he, along with his friend and apprentice, Darth Malak, led an invasion of the Galactic Republic in the year 3,959 BBY. With the aid of veterans from the Mandalorian Wars and a host of Dark Jedi converts that had served with them, the former Jedi hoped to take over the Republic in anticipation of a greater threat, that posed by the True Sith who lurked within the Unknown Regions of the galaxy.During the war Darth Revan nearly succeeded in conquering the Republic, however, a trap set by the Jedi and unwittingly abetted by Malak left him comatose, with his mind nearly destroyed. Barely alive, he was taken from the wreckage by Bastila Shan, whose skills in battle meditation and the Force had allowed the mission to happen. Taken to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine,Revan was healed by the Jedi Council and reprogrammed to believe that he was an agent loyal to the Republic and placed under the command of Bastila, who was then placed aboard the Endar Spire. In 3,956 BBY, with the intention of drawing out Revan's fragmented memories of the Star Forge, the vast space station that was the source of the seemingly endless resources of the Sith, he was taken to the ecumenopolis of Taris where a Sith fleet under the direct command of Malak was waiting in ambush.Eventually escaping from Taris, Revan, along with Bastila, Carth Onasi, and several others, fled to the Dantooine academy, where the Jedi Masters there retrained him. After several weeks, the Dantooine council sent him and the crew of the Ebon Hawk back out into the wider galaxy to track down the Star Forge's location, at the heart of the ancient Infinite Empire of the Rakata.Later, after a number of ancient Star Maps had been uncovered, Malak led an attack against the Enclave, devastating it and further crippling the Jedi Order. After finding the last Star Map and, from it, deducing the location of the Rakatan homeworld of Lehon, Revan, the Jedi, and the Republic launched the war's final battle. With Malak dead, the Star Forge destroyed, and the Sith fleet scattered and defeated, the long and costly war came to an end.Revan disappeared into unknown space in search of a great threat to the Republic, an expanding Sith Empire led by a mysterious Emperor who planned vengeance for his ancient Jedi enemies. Revan never returned from unknown space.
- The Sith Civil War was a conflict that wracked the remains of the Sith Empire in the wake of the Jedi Civil War. Following the death of Darth Malak during the Battle of Rakata Prime, several of the Sith Lords who had followed Darth Revan and Malak during the war attempted to take what scraps they could from the ruins of the Sith Empire. Declaring themselves sovereign warlords, they fractured the empire into a number of small, hotly-contested kingdoms.During the height of the Sith Civil War, many of the Sith warlords united under Darth Sion and Darth Nihilus, but upon their deaths, the Civil War escalated once more. By 3,950 BBY, the remnants of the Sith empire disintegrated entirely due to the constant infighting. As a result, the Galactic Republic was able to conquer Sith space, and reclaim worlds that had been under Sith control since the Great Sith War.
- The First Jedi Purge took place some time after the Battle of Rakata Prime, from 3,955–3,954 BBY until 3,951 BBY. This purge saw nearly the entire Jedi Order disappear from the galaxy; the Order publicly disbanded and most of the survivors were killed by the Sith. After the conclusion of the First Sith Civil War circa 3,955 BBY, Darth Traya, Darth Nihilus, and Darth Sion took command of the remnants of Revan's Sith Empire. After the exile of Traya, Sion utilized his Sith Assassins to assassinate Jedi, while Nihilus consumed the life of an entire planet in search of the Jedi. Nihilus's last attack was on the Miraluka world of Katarr, where nearly all of the remaining hundred Jedi died at a conclave on the planet.Nihilus and Sion then became the main perpetrators of the First Jedi Purge, causing the virtual extinction of the Jedi Order. The purge was brought to an end by the Jedi Exile who returned from the unknown. She trained a new generation of Jedi Knights and personally defeated all three Sith Lords. After the purge was over, the Jedi she trained proved essential to reviving the Order. The Jedi Exile was a Human female who was a Jedi Padawan who chose to disobey the orders of the Jedi High Council and aid the Galactic Republic in its struggle against the invading Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars. Rising to the rank of Jedi Knight during the war, she served with distinction under the command of her fellow crusaders Revan and Malak, and was eventually commissioned as a General in the Republic Military. The Exile played a vital role in defeating the Mandalorians during the latter stages of the conflict, but as a direct result of her controversial actions during the cataclysmic final battle, she effectively cut her connection to the Force. Afterwards, out of all those who went to war, she was the only Jedi to avoid the call of the dark side and return to the Jedi Council to be judged for her crimes. After she was exiled from the Jedi Order, she wandered the periphery of known space for nearly a decade before returning to the Republic during the Dark Wars, at the height of the First Jedi Purge.Caught up in the schemes of various mysterious factions, she was swiftly drawn into the ongoing conflict and became instrumental in engineering the defeat of the Sith Triumvirate ruled by Darths Sion, Traya, and Nihilus. Able to sense the Force once more, the Exile emerged victorious from her campaign against the Sith Lords and immediately began a search for the long absent Jedi Revan. In the following years, she and the Jedi that she trained during her travels would prove essential to the process of rebuilding the Jedi Order in the wake of its near annihilation at the hands of the Sith. After that The Sith Civil War continues as the remaining Sith fight over the remnants of their empire. At the end of the war one Sith Lord bearing the title of "Darth", being one of the few survivors declares himself a Sith Lord. Another presumed extinction of the Sith.
- The Great Galactic War, more commonly known as the Great War, was a war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic between 3,681 BBY and 3,653 BBY. With the Sith Empire's defeat in the Great Hyperspace War, the Sith were on the verge of collapse. But one Dark Lord escaped the Republic known as the True Sith and made it to the Unknown Regions. There, he re-founded the Empire, himself assuming the title of Sith Emperor, and created a council of other Sith Lords. Using the power of the dark side, the Emperor kept himself alive for over a thousand years after the Great Hyperspace War, rebuilding the Empire's strength and waiting for a chance to avenge the Sith's defeat. The Republic, meanwhile, was challenged in a number of wars over the next few thousand years, including the war with Exar Kun, battles with Mandalorians, war with Darth Revan and the upheaval of the Kanz Disorders. In the year 3,681 BBY, the Sith Emperor saw that the chance for revenge against the Republic and the Jedi had come, and launched an invasion of the Republic. Decades after the war started, the Dark Council gave the Republic a surprising offer: the chance to negotiate peace. The Republic could not afford to ignore this opportunity, and the Jedi Council agreed to it, seeing the war was unwinnable. But while diplomats on both sides opened talks on Alderaan, an elite Sith army invaded Coruscant and held the planet hostage. With no other choice, the Republic diplomats signed the uneven Treaty of Coruscant. The treaty forced the Republic to give up many outlying systems to the True Sith Empire. Although his Empire was stronger than ever, the Sith Emperor no longer seemed to desire total conquest. He handed over control of the Empire to the Dark Council, a body of twelve Sith Lords who would oversee the day-to-day affairs of state. The Dark Lord went on to pursue his own mysterious goals as the Sith consolidated their power.By the end of the war, thousands of Jedi were dead. The Galactic Republic focused its anger on the Jedi, blaming the order for its defeat at the hands of the Sith. Though they were still committed to defending the Republic, the surviving Jedi chose to return to their homeworld of Tython. The end of the Great Galactic War set the stage for a Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic in the years that followed. This cold war saw a number of border skirmishes and proxy wars, pushing the two super powers to the brink of another war.
- The Cold War was an intense stand-off between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic after 3,653 BBY, lasting until 3,623 BBY.[1] The Treaty of Coruscant ended the Great Galactic War, sealing the Sith Empire's victory. Peace was brought, but tensions between the Sith and the Republic remained high. In the thirty years after the War, fear and uncertainty gripped the galaxy. Border skirmishes and proxy wars between the Sith and Republic erupted and the uneasy truce between the two foes appeared to be on the verge of collapse.
- 3,500 BBY - Darth Desolous is expelled from the Jedi Order, and forms a Sith army of Pau'ans, training them in the use of cortosis armor and shields, and leads them against the Jedi. Some two thousand Jedi Knights are killed before the carnage ceases.
- The New Sith War, also known as the Light and Darkness War, or the Draggulch Period, and known to the Sith as the War of the Fittest, The Betrayal and The Curse of Qalydon, is the name given to the thousand years of conflict between the Jedi and the Sith, which lasted from approximately 2,000 to 1,000 BBY. The last century of the conflict is commonly known as the Republic Dark Age, and the name Light and Darkness War is sometimes specifically applied to the final series of battles between the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness and the Jedi Army of Light. The beginning of the conflict was the Fourth Great Schism of 2,000 BBY, when the Jedi known as Phanius fell to the dark side, naming himself Darth Ruin and The New Sith Empire was founded by Darth Ruin, and was the vast area of galactic territory formed out of the Fourth Great Schism, which the Sith ruled over with an iron fist. darth Ruin creating his own Sith Order, with fifty of his fellow Jedi Knights following him. Although Ruin was eventually killed by his own followers after a defeat, for centuries, the Sith were all but unstoppable, rampaging throughout the galaxy and winning great victories, such as at Mizra. The period from 1,250 to 1,230 BBY is known as the Sictis Wars. In that era, Belia Darzu ruled as Dark Lord of the Sith, unleashing Technobeasts against the Jedi forces.Sometime between 1,010 and 1,006 BBY the New Sith Empire collapsed in a civil war. From the ashes, Kaan established the Brotherhood of Darkness. After nearly a thousand years of war, the Sith were in near-collapse—although the eleventh century BBY would later be described as the "Republic Dark Age", there is little evidence for any coherent Sith threat for more than two centuries after 1,230 BBY. The Sith were divided against one another, as the various warlords and self-proclaimed Dark Lords fought each other for supremacy, and according to the Republic, the war was officially a "series of protracted military engagements" against an illegal organization, as opposed to an actual war.
- Out of the ashes of the New Sith Empire, a former Jedi Master, Lord Kaan, reorganized the Sith into the Brotherhood of Darkness, over 20,000 strong. Beginning in around 1,010 BBY, this new group launched a series of attacks designed to destroy the Jedi and the Republic, seizing worlds like Kashyyyk, and even briefly Corulag, Chandrila and Brentaal IV. By 1,001 BBY, they seemed almost poised to conquer Coruscant. However, Lord Hoth, a Jedi Master and Republic General, had been scoring victories of his own against the Sith. Driving the Brotherhood from their home in the heavily-defended region of space known as the Cloak of the Sith, Hoth chased them from world to world, from Hoth to Dromund Kaas to Malrev IV. In many of his earlier campaigns, he commanded Republic fleets and armies, but around 1,002 BBY, he forged the bulk of the Jedi Order's fighting strength into an independent military force known as the Army of Light. The war ended with the armies of Hoth and Kaan facing each other on the world of Ruusan. It was here that the final Battle of Ruusan took place, which ended with Kaan's use of the thought bomb. The conflict resulted in the restructuring of the Republic and the apparent destruction of the Sith (and, it is speculated, the formation of the Cosmic Balance religion). There was to be no full-scale war after the New Sith War for almost a thousand years, until the Clone Wars erupted.leaving Darth Bane the only survivor. To ensure the continued survival of the Sith, Bane institutes the Rule of Two.But The Jedi believed That Sith were destroyed at the Seventh Battle of Ruusan.
- It would not be long, however, before Bane's fledgling order was rediscovered by the Jedi and (once again) thought eliminated. The Jedi discovered both the new Rule of Two and the identity of Darth Bane, but did not foresee that the new Sith he had founded would long survive Bane's death. Bane inducted his new apprentice, giving her the name Darth Zannah,Darth Bane was the fabled Sith'ari, the one who was prophesied to restore the Sith to glory. It would not be long, however, before Bane's fledgling order was rediscovered by the Jedi and (once again) thought eliminated. The Jedi discovered both the new Rule of Two and the identity of Darth Bane, but did not foresee that the new Sith he had founded would long survive Bane's death. For 1,000 years the Sith watched and waited, doing their best to destabilize the Galactic Republic without revealing themselves. Many centuries passed. Around 188 BBY, during the Dark Jedi Conflict, Kibh Jeen told the Jedi that the Sith had survived and were operating under the Rule of Two, though his warnings were ignored or passed off as the rantings of a madman. Their presence was masked until Darth Maul, apprentice of Darth Sidious, attacked Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
- (1,000 – 33 BBY) – The Rule of Two continues. Darth Millennial abandons his master, Darth Cognus, and establishes the Prophets of the Dark Side. Darth Vectivus becomes the administrator of a mine on an asteroid near Bimmiel, and builds a mansion there at the heart of a dark-side energy nexus. He lives out the rest of his days there, surrounded by friends and family, and presumably trains his own apprentice. The Muun Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis is found and trained by an unknown Master. Palpatine is trained under the tutelage of Darth Plagueis, and is given the title of Darth Sidious. Palpatine kills his Master in his sleep. He then trains Darth Maul as his own apprentice.and unifies the sith (Prophet of the Dark Side )The organization which worshiped the Dark Force. They were also known as Emperor's Mages during Palpatine's time as Galactic Emperor. Kadann their lord accepted his destiny. At Sidious's behest he assembled a small group of Dark Force devotees with particular talents for seeing portents and omens in the Force. These became the Prophets of the Dark Side, with Kadann as Supreme Prophet. By the time the New Order came to pass, Kadann would become one of the new Emperor's most trusted—and most secret—advisors.
- In 52 BBY, Darth Sidious started infiltrating the Republic's government, carefully implementing the steps of a plan set down centuries in the past, preparing to address "wrongs" the Galaxy at large had long since forgotten with the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY. Though his apprentice, Darth Maul, was slain in that battle at the hands of Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, the day proved an unparalleled victory for the Sith; Darth Sidious, as Senator Palpatine of Naboo, was elected to the office of Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic.More than a decade passed, during which Palpatine manipulated the Senate into granting him more and more powers. His new apprentice, Darth Tyranus, formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which seceded from the Galactic Republic, thus beginning a long and bloody conflict known as the Clone Wars. During this time as the conflict progressed, the Jedi began to grow suspicious of Palpatine's expanding powers. As the Clone Wars neared their climax, the Jedi ranks had been thinned considerably. At last, the moment had come for the Sith to reclaim their former glory. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine—who had been revealed as Darth Sidious by Anakin Skywalker—killed four Jedi Masters who had been sent to arrest him. He then crowned himself Galactic Emperor, and replaced the ancient Republic with a "New Order" — the Galactic Empire — a galaxy-spanning dark side theocracy masquerading as a dictatorship the likes of which had not been seen for millennia, through the Declaration of a New Order.
- The Jedi Purge began with the issuing of Order 66, in which the clone troopers received their transmission from Palpatine to kill their Jedi commanders, and attack the Jedi Temple, led by Palpatine's third and greatest apprentice, Darth Vader. The Purge ensured that what few Jedi remained became even fewer, until only a handful of the original ten thousand remained. It was a dark time for the galaxy.Eventually, however, the Alliance to Restore the Republic arose to overthrow the Empire a year before the Battle of Yavin. The 38-year Galactic Civil War drew many into its fold, perhaps the most notable of whom was Luke Skywalker, the son of Anakin Skywalker (or as he was better known, Darth Vader). The Galactic Civil War, known by 43 ABY as the First Galactic Civil War, was a major galactic conflict (and the most famous) fought between the oppressive Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, a rebel faction dedicated to the revival of the Galactic Republic, which the Empire supplanted at the culmination of the Clone Wars years prior.Shortly after Skywalker destroyed the Empire's terrifying Death Star superweapon, the Emperor and Vader became aware of the young man's identity. Both Sith Lords hoped to corrupt Luke to the dark side, but each had a different plan for the future. Vader desired to kill the Emperor and rule the galaxy with his son, but Palpatine wished to replace Vader with the boy as his fourth apprentice. Neither goal was successful, and it appeared that the Sith had finally come to an end, as originally prophesied by the Jedi. With the destruction of the second Death Star at the Battle of Endor, Darth Vader returned to the light side as Anakin Skywalker once again, slaying his former master and being slain in return. The return of Anakin Skywalker, formerly Darth Vader, to the light side, and the death of the Emperor, who was the last true master of Darth Bane's reformed Sith Order, brought to fruition the prophecy of the Chosen One who would "bring balance to the Force."
